About Us

Our Story

It all started in the late 1970’s when our father Jerry Sr. decided to make some big changes. He stopped his career as a public educator and decided to pursue his love of plants and his nursery he had started a few years earlier. He spent most early mornings, evenings and weekends working and nurturing our nursery, but it eventually took too much time and he had to make the hard choice to be a nurseryman only. This decision has allowed our nursery to grow throughout the years and produce a wide range of ornamentals. Since the beginning, we have been growing Rhododendrons and Daphne and have added many new plants to our mix to ship throughout the US and Canada. We now are a second-generation nursery and still believe in the hard work necessary to provide quality plants and good customer relationships.

Many of our nursery crew have been with our nursery since the late 1980’s and 90s providing great experience and talent in trimming, planting, grading and all the jobs needed to grow and ship a quality plant.

Simnitt Nursery Our nursery has been growing quality nursery plants for the wholesale trade for over 30 years. Our ideal location and soils have allowed us to grow, along with our plants, to over 65 acres providing both container and field grown ornamentals for landscapers, re-wholesalers and retailers.
At the nursery we grow over 175 varieties of Rhododendrons and Pieris, ensuring the right plant for the customer needing specific hardiness, size and color. Our specialties, are some of the unusual and hard to find plants, such as Daphne which we have been growing since our beginning. Varieties such as Carol Mackie, Cneorum (Rock Daphne), Odora, and the Summer bloomers -Eternal Fragrance, Summer Ice and Jim’s Pride are all beautiful to see in bloom and give our nursery a unique product mix.
